Q: Can I access the course Canvas shell if I am trying to add the course?
A: You can only access the Canvas course shell once you have been officially added into the course through SIS.
Q: If I am on a course wait list, can I access the Canvas course shell?
A: No. You must be officially enrolled in the courses. The course instructor will need to give you a permission code in order for you to add. Permission codes are not available to instructors until the first day of class.
Q: After I add a class, how long does it take to see the Canvas shell?
A: You should see the class in Canvas within 24 hours of officially adding the course.
Q: How do I know if there are required Zoom meetings?
A: Please contact your instructor to find out if there will be required Zoom meetings for the course in question. If you are trying to add the course, please email the instructor for more information on logging into Zoom on the first day of class.
Q: Where can I go for Canvas technical support?
A: Each campus has its own technical support. If you are logged into Canvas, there is a question mark in the left-hand corner that has the contact number for each campus.

Q: Where can I go for more Canvas tutorials?
A: The LACCD has created a Canvas Student Self-Orientation that you can enroll in. If you complete the tutorials and pass the quiz, you can earn a digital badge!

Q: Where can I go for health and wellness services and resources?
A: LACCD Wellness Central—students can self-enroll in this canvas support shell. You can also check your college’s website for access to campus-specific resources.
Q: Where can I go to establish broadband internet service for my home?
A: The Los Angeles Community College District has compiled a list of options for low-cost internet access for students. Please see the Reduced Cost or Free Internet Access/WiFi page for more information.
Q: How do I use Canvas on my phone or tablet?
A: You can access it through the web browser on your device, like you can on a computer. Or, you can download the Canvas Student app for free in your phone app store.
