Course Description

Use this page in your syllabus to write a student-centered description of your course--not the description in the class schedule or in your Course Outline of Record.

A student-centered course description speaks to the students' needs, wants, and interests. Here are a few tips for writing to your students:

  • write to your students, not about them;
  • catch their attention by asking a question that will excite their curiosity;
  • explain how the knowledge and skills they'll learn in your class will help them now or in the near future.
