Instructions

Midterm: Timed: Two Hours.

Length: 3-4 pages.

We are now half done with the semester, and you are ready for your midterm.

Make sure you have all your notes, novel, and thoughts ready before you begin the midterm. This is a timed assignment, which means as soon as you begin writing, the clock will start clicking.

This is a text based essay, which means you are going to use quotes from the text(s) to support your response.

Let me give a brief background to what the topic is and what you need to do:

You have started reading Patrisse Cullors's When They Call You a Terrorist and have completed chapter 1 through chapter 11 reading log.  After you read the assigned chapters, you now know that this book is memoire of Cullors, one of the founders of the Black Lives Matter Movement. This movement is a social movement that is created to address a social injustice because it creates division amongst the people in society.

Social movements are not a new trend; they have been part of different societies ever since we have formed communities, and many have been the responsible for changes in our societies all over the world and history.  So, for your research paper, the topic is to compare or contrast a social movement of your choice to the Black Lives Matter movement that you are going to learn as you read Cullors' novel: When They Call You a Terrorist. The midterm is the first step in writing your research paper, so please read the midterm question very carefully.

NOTE: Keep all the notes that you prepared and the sources that you collected because you are going to need that for your research paper. Also, you may use the midterm paper as part of your research paper.
