Steps for Your Self-Introduction Speech

1. Carefully think about what you would like to talk about in the speech. Our speaking assignment has a 2-4 time limit.

2. When you've selected your three main points, it is time to gather the material. Decide on the point you want to make and your most wanted response. What do you want your audience to remember?

3. Develop all the supporting material in each main point. For example, when discussing the meaning of your name, tell us the story behind your name of nick name. Do you like it? Why or why not?

4. Build in transitions sentences, word or phrases, like the words first, second, third, at this moment, etc.

6. If possible, rehearse your speech in front of someone in your home, and ask opinions. Practice and practice again. Avoid memorizing your text to speech. When you're able to tell it in a reasonably extemporaneous; a conversational style or manner, it's okay.

7. Finally, remember to use eye contact with your listeners and gestures when you deliver the speech.
