Sketchbook is Required- here are some ideas
Sketchbook requirements
You are required to have a sketchbook for this class. This is where you can keep all of your design idea sketches, notes, preliminary thoughts, things you find interesting, lecture notes etc. All architects keep sketchbooks! Expect to substantially fill your sketchbook this semester.
Usage
You will use a sketchbook throughout this class for research, brainstorming, capturing inspiration, thumbnails, lecture notes, and anything else that will help you in learning and about architecture and the creative process. Ideally it should contain your history of this class.
Quantity
Turn in 1 image from your sketchbook per week. You will see a location to submit it here on Canvas.
Good sketchbooks are about quantity not quality. The more you get down the better. (This is the rare time that you will hear this). It should contain lots of drawings, different words, phrases, thumbnails, etc. Cut and paste pictures from magazines or printouts from web research. During research you should have your sketchbook open to capture important pieces of information and any related thoughts. After research, use it for brainstorming.
Honor trees by using your paper for your creative process.
We will use drawings from our sketchbooks in several of our projects so....
