John Cage Design Process #2
We will continue to use John Cage methods of design.
Supplies
- Draw or copy new versions of your elevations, plans and sections for your original object
- You will need 1 copy of each elevation, each plan, each section.
- trace paper roll
- tape
- glue
- pencil or ink
- cutting mat
- xacto knife
- Straight Edge
Part 1.
Start
- Stack 1 each of each of your elevations, plans and sections.
- Straighten this stack out
- On your cutting mat slice this stack into strips using your straight edge and xacto knife
- You may slice either horizontally or vertically only (no diagonal cuts)
- Slices should be about 1/2" to 3/4". They do not need to be the same size but do not make too big or to small
Next
- Lay out a large sheet of trace paper
- take your strips and organize them in either a horizontal or vertical pattern, or both.
- these strips can be interwoven in anyway you wish to create a composition- as long as they remain horizontal, vertical or both (no diagonals)
Next
- Glue down your composition.
