Instructions

This is a reminder that this final exam can be done at any time today, Tuesday from 12:01am through 11:59pm. You will have two hours to do this exam and the timer starts once you begin it (so make sure that everyone around you knows they need to respect your boundaries, especially for the next two hours!).  This exam will be open book, open notes, open study guide (so those of you who have study guides should find them helpful), but it is to be done by yourself in your own words.  Most questions are worth the same amount of points and some of these questions are harder than others so skip the hard ones and come back to them later!  I recommend skipping the hard ones and making it to the end before the 1 hour 30 minutes mark so you have enough time to decide which hard questions are worth your time.  I also recommend that you read all the parts of the question you are on (maybe C sparks your memory and helps you answer A).  If you get panicky, sit back, close your eyes and breathe a couple of times.  You are a physical being and you want to make sure your bloodstream isn't filled with stress hormones that make your brain's job harder.  If you haven't yet decide when to start this exam, make sure you are as well-rested as you can when you take it.  Again, you are a physical being and you need your body and your brain at 100%.

Make sure to hit submit when you are finally ready to finish because that will stop the exam.  Let me add that I would like to extend my best wishes in your future life.  I hope you feel your life has been enriched by the study of the Universe.  If not, I hope that at the very least, you have learned something in this class that will be of some use to you.  Remember, science isn’t a process that only people wearing lab coats use; it is something that can be used in almost any situation, including things like whether you need to take your car into the mechanic, or why your significant other isn’t talking to you anymore.  Science tells us what is really going on and only once we know reality can we work on changing it and improving it.  The same goes for our own selves.  The emphasis this semester on metacognition is so that you can know yourself, and therefore be able to change your self for the better.  You’ve learned a lot this past semester, done a lot, and survived a lot.  I am proud to be your instructor.  Thank you.
