1.3 - Using the DE Handbook as a Reference
- Reading time: 3 min.
- Video time: 6:36
Click Home in the course menu and select your area of interest, or use the Modules link in the course menu to see all content in the Handbook. Note that the first and last page of each Handbook chapter/module includes a set of quick links to jump to the subtopic of your choice within that chapter/module.
This Handbook is to be used as a reference or comprehensive guide, rather than an actual training course. However, anyone may also work their way entirely through all material in this Handbook, which would undoubtedly increase understanding of key concepts and foundational regulations related to offering distance education at LATTC.
Outcomes
If you engage with all the material in this handbook, you will be better prepared to:
- identify essential and recommended design and instructional elements for DE classes offered at LATTC
- identify the local, federal, state, and accreditation bases for DE requirements
- engage in the processes for DE course approval, DE class scheduling, and DE teaching evaluation at LATTC
- incorporate LATTC-specific student support resources in your DE classes
- describe how Canvas and other LATTC technologies are made available and supported for online education
- utilize additional recommended resources supporting faculty teaching online
