C - Design Elements for Canvas
This appendix provides a "behind the scenes" look at how different design elements of this Handbook are created in Canvas, and gives code and advice to anyone who would like to adapt any of those elements for use in their own Canvas courses.
Additional great Canvas design resources
- MiraCosta College's Canvas Page Design Links to an external site. with resources on Buttons, Tabs, Grids, and additional cool design elements.
- Some nice surprises in Loma Linda's Canvas HTML Library Links to an external site.! Just keep clicking "Next" at the bottom to see all they have.
Caveats
- Most of these elements require you to use the Canvas rich content editor HTML view. Modifying Canvas elements in the HTML view requires precision and can be tricky. If you're new to it, you might want to review the HTML overview Links to an external site. (from the MiraCosta resource linked above).
- It's important to note that Canvas and web standards change over time. Some elements provided here that worked well in 2022 may eventually become outdated. Canvas designers sometimes change the architecture which affects these HTML elements down the line.
