This chapter of the LATTC DE Handbook is probably the most essential. I mean, the whole handbook is important, don't get me wrong, but if you had to choose just one section to master, this would be it. This section will help you to become conversant with the key LATTC-specific documents that specify the local requirements and procedures for online and hybrid teaching at LATTC.

Outcomes

For those who are learning all material in this Handbook, by the end of this module, you should be able to:

  • Access the training and self-checklist required of all faculty assigned to teach online at LATTC
  • Describe the essential requirements of distance education (DE) classes at LATTC as contained in AP 4105
  • Determine which syllabus elements you would need to revise or add for a DE class, based on the LATTC Syllabus Checklist and the Course Outline of Record for your course
  • Describe how DE course sections are scheduled and assigned to instructors 
  • Ensure that your DE classes are made available to students on a timely basis
  • Know where to locate other key LATTC working conditions and policy documents related to online teaching
  • Analyze data to determine patterns of student success in your DE classes
