The most up to date source for learning about LATTC-supported online education technologies that complement Canvas is the LACCD Faculty Resources site, especially under the Canvas Apps/LTIs menu. You can also see technologies which have been integrated with Canvas by clicking Settings at the bottom of any Canvas course menu, then clicking the Navigation tab at top center and scrolling down past the items which are on your course menu.
Several publisher tools are already globally integrated with Canvas. Other tools may be connected by faculty individually, with assistance from the DE Coordinator, if necessary.
Here's a brief rundown of tools available, with links to learn more.
- Video
- Canvas Studio is a video management system that enables students and faculty to easily create and manage video directly within Canvas. Faculty may also add quiz questions within videos via Studio, and may use a video as the basis for a class discussion. Studio will auto-caption video in multiple languages, with easy editing for perfecting captions.
- PlayPosit is available to all LATTC faculty through a systemwide agreement. Similar to Studio, this tool allows for a variety of integrated assessment activities directly within video but it has more advanced options (and a bit more complexity for faculty to use).
- Yuja has two components: video and proctoring. The video system has many of the same features of Canvas Studio.
- 3C Media Solutions Links to an external site. is an external video storage and streaming system exclusively for CCC faculty use. It includes video playback free of the distractions that can come with services like YouTube. Prior to 2020, it also allowed for free professional captioning, but that option is now extremely limited. Studio is generally recommended rather than 3C.

- Interaction and Engagement
- Zoom is available to all faculty for live online lectures, office hours, group meetings, etc. It includes audio, video, screensharing, a whiteboard, text chat, and polling features. Meetings can be scheduled and launched from within Canvas using the integration features, or you can use Zoom outside of Canvas and copy links to meetings and recordings into Canvas. Live Zoom sessions can be auto-captioned, and recordings are always auto-captioned, with easy editing as needed. Zoom can also serve as a tool for creating screencasts.
- Pronto is an app that works within and outside of Canvas to enable seamless, fun, and effective communication between faculty and students, and among students, including messaging, video chat, file sharing, and more.
- Harmonize is a tool allowing you to create activities and assignments that engage students through video discussions.
- Online Tutoring (all accessed through the Student Support Hub in Canvas)
