Instructions

The purpose of this quiz is to test your general knowledge and understanding of key concepts and terms of literary theory and criticism. I have extended the deadline from what's listed on the syllabus, so now the quiz will close by midnight on Friday, December 7. [The final exam, which will be due by midnight next Friday, will test your writing skills of applying such theories to a literary work.]

The questions on the exam are pretty straight-forward. No big surprises. [There aren't any nick-picky questions. I'm not going to ask you when "The Yellow Wallpaper" was written (answer: "1892")]. In order to prepare for this quiz, I would recommend going over the prior lesson on literary theories first and then go over "The Jewish Wife" by Bertolt Brecht, as most of the questions refer to this play. Since it is a timed, one-hour quiz, don't start the exam until you have reviewed the theories and play first!

The quiz is a combination of multiple choice and true/false. Some multiple-choice questions have more than one answer, so make sure to read the instructions to the questions carefully! A majority of the questions are worth a point each, but a few are worth five points. In order to get the whole score, all parts of the questions must be answered correctly. The total score of the exam is a maximum of 30 points, the same number of points as the written assignments. Ready?
