Instructions

THIS IS IT! The final exam is based on August Wilson's Fences found in the Literature anthology (L 1030). If you are using another source, make sure that your version includes the "Introduction: The Play" that appears before the play begins, since it is one of the questions on the exam. Make sure to quote and cite from the text properly (i.e. MLA-format) in order to support your analyses. And please review the last lesson which will help you prepare for the exam.

The quiz will be in five parts, each graded 10 points for a total of 50 points, and graded like the essay assignments in terms of the Student Learning Outcomes: that is, by organization, content and grammar. Please follow the directions of each question, which will give you the theories from which you will be analyzing the play. First, briefly explain the theory and then the context of the play and then quote and cite from the text. Then elaborate how the theory helps you understand the value of the play in terms of its content. Your responses should be about two to three paragraphs long, no more, no less.

Have the book on hand as well as any notes. You will have two hours to complete the exam.
