How to Succeed in our Online Class

You don't need to be a genius to succeed in our online course or, for that matter, in any online class. What persons often lack is not resources, but resourcefulness. It's resourcefulness that turns two sticks of wood into a fire -- or a bright idea into a Fortune 500 company.

What advice can I give you about succeeding in our course?

  • Block out time in your schedule to do the work and follow the schedule.

  • Read the Course Guide / Syllabus and the FAQs carefully; review the Q&A page. There should be no reason for being unable to find the information you need.

  • Check in on course discussions regularly, if not daily.

  • Treat your efforts and your fellow course participants’ learning efforts with respect. See yourself in others.

  • Have patience and a sense of humor with technology. Stuff happens sometimes. Shake it off and fix your eyes on getting an education.

  • Ask for help when you need it and share assistance with others when you can help.

  • Contribute to discussions early in the week to allow others the opportunity to read, reflect, and respond to your posts.

  • Respond to the posts of your classmates each week. Remember, the discussions are where you explore the information you've learned, expand on it, and connect it to what you already know -- or think you know. They are an essential tool for learning the material -- and a great way to meet new friends as well.

Finally, remember to laugh a bit.
It's all new people in a hundred years.
