Do you need help in your English or ESL class?

The Online English Writing Center and ESL Lab are here for you. We can help with revising essays, grammar, formatting, research, or anything else related to reading and writing. Through our online platforms, you can drop off a paper and receive comments from a tutor or meet with a tutor in a one-on-one conference (you can connect to the Zoom meeting here).

Please be aware that the purpose of this Canvas shell is to inform you about the English/ESL Department's tutoring services. To receive tutoring, you must enroll in a Writing Center/ESL Lab course. You can choose between credit and non-credit courses. Credit courses include English 67 (for English 28 students), English 108, and English 68. These courses allow you to attend weekly workshops and to access online exercises (LaunchPad Solo). They also require a minimum number of hours to pass. We have a non-credit course (Tutor 001), which does not have required hours. See below under "Enrollment Information" and "Our Support Classes" for more detailed information.

About the Writers' Block: If you need help with a writing assignment in a subject other than English, you can meet with a tutor at another tutoring center at LACC, the Writers' Block. Click here for details about the Writers' Block. If you are in an English 101 class with an embedded tutor, you will find your tutor in the Writers' Block, although you are welcome to meet tutors at the English Writing Center as well.

For FYE students: Your FYE hours can be completed in the Writing Center. Time spent in any Writing Center activity will be reported regularly to the FYE program. If you also complete hours in the Writers' Block, the time from both tutoring centers will be added.
