ESL 8 - Advanced Composition
Greetings Students!
Welcome ESL 8 students to Spring semester, 2021.
This Advanced ESL Composition class is a fully-online course where you participate weekly in the posted activities. Your work is self paced, but you need to pay attention to deadlines each week. It's important not to get ahead of schedule or fall behind. To start, make sure you understand the Syllabus for the course, know how to navigate course Modules, and understand how to seek Technical support for all your Canvas needs.
Be sure you have the two required textbooks. All registered students were sent an email in January with the details. We'll start Great Writing 5 text in week Two. See Syllabus for more information.
Showing up the First Week!
To not be dropped the first week, students must login to Canvas at the start of the first week. Read the Home page and review the Syllabus. Then go to Modules - click on Module One for Week One - Getting Started. View the first six pages to meet your instructor, your CET (Course embedded tutor), and understanding Netiquette.
Then you will find a Discussion forum after that. Follow the directions exactly and post something about yourself answering the four questions. If you do not log on by Friday, February 12 and post a Discussion, I will assume you are a "no show" and drop you from the class.
I need to see that you are an active student and posting something about yourself indicates that to me. Not doing so may result in your being excluded from the class as a “no show” and a student on the Waiting List could replace you.
At any time after the first week, a student is not going onto Canvas or spending enough time there, not doing the assignments or taking the tests, or not participating in the discussions, I will assume you have stopped participating and drop you from the class. If there is any emergency situation that would prevent you from participating (completing assignments) you need to contact me immediately to explain the situation.
Monday, February 8 - stop by and join the Instructor on Zoom Office Hours - 1pm or 6pm -- See Announcements for link. Extra Credit.
