Starting Week Four Activities

3/01 to 3/07

Congratulations on getting through the first three weeks. By now you should be familiar with how to write a five-paragraph essay, starting with Brainstorming ideas and then organizing those ideas using a brief Topic Outline as guide to your essay.

You learned about Academic Honesty in regards to doing your own writing and about Pierce College's Rules regarding plagiarism and honesty.

You discovered more about American culture from looking at the first half of the 20th century having to do with war, slavery, women's rights, and the aerospace industry. You were given a preview of the women involved in our novel, Hidden Figures.

Now, we'll begin to look at our novel, through reading the Prologue and Chapters 1-4.

First, let's look into successful Reading Strategies and in particular, how to read a novel for the first time.
