Reading: Hidden Figures, the Prologue and Ch 1-4 Reading and Listening

                                                                                                              homework assignment

Reading assignment this week:

This week, read the Prologue and Chapters 1-4 of HF (Hidden Figures).

Please read all of the pages a few times.

You can find recordings of Professor Ray's reading each chapter below. She stops and talks about what things mean to her while she's reading. I hope you can listen for fluency and pronunciation but also to work on your metacognitive reading skills.

It would be a good idea to follow these steps when you read:

1. Read each chapter and listen to her recordings below as you read. This will help your fluency, pronunciation, and rhythm.

2. Then read each chapter again without listening to the recordings. Try to read out loud to practice pronunciation and fluency.

3. Keep track of what stands out to you. (for Discussion space later)

4. Mark your book - circle new words to look up - highlight important passages - make notes in the margins - underline major points.

Here are the recordings of Prof. Ray reading each chapter, including the prologue. She reads and stops to explain things, so we hope it helps you.
