Summary of Module Six

Blue Ribbon

Congratulations! You have now finished Module Six in Week Six of our semester.

You have practiced a great deal by now on how to write a five-paragraph essay. Each paper you write should get easier as the class progresses. This is a new learning experience for some of you and for others a chance to improve on what you already know.

Remember to be patient with yourself. The learning curve can be great for a number of you, so do the best you can as you move through the learning experiences in these Modules.

                                                                                                                                                      P is for Patience

 What's Next?

We'll be moving on to Unit 3 of Great Writing 5 textbook which discusses bringing in outside material into your paper.

There are exact standards to follow when quoting and paraphrasing other people's ideas and bringing them into your own writing. You want to be sure and cite your sources to avoid plagiarism which is a violation of academic honesty. We'll practice citing sources in one of your later papers in this class.

Successful transfer into English 101 means understanding the rules of citing outside sources directly, as you will be required to write a research paper in English 101. Unit 3 will help discover ways to bring in outside material properly.

We'll also practice exercises in grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure.

You will have a chance to rewrite Paper #1 next week, if desired.

Last, we'll take a look at some of the words from your Vocabulary Journal.

We'll continue Hidden Figures, Chap. 10-13, in Module Eight.

In the meantime, let's get to Module Seven and GW5 Unit 3.

Persian New Year - Happy Holiday!
