Welcome to Week One

                                       Week One

2/08 to 2/14/21

Welcome to the first week of Spring Semester, 2021.

This ESL 8 Course is designed through Modules. Students will navigate through One Module a Week. There are sixteen weeks in the semester and sixteen Modules. This is an asynchronous course, meaning that you navigate through each weekly module at your own pace.

Classes start February 8 and end at Final Exam time, June 7.

We will be using two books: Textbook - Great Writing 5 and reader is Hidden Figures. See the Syllabus for exact titles, authors, and ISBN numbers. I sent out an email in January to students about what textbooks to order. See also my Welcome video next where I put the two books on display.

The class is set up so that you see a published week's Module each week. Modules start on a MONDAY and end on a SUNDAY.

The Modules have dated exercises that only open on certain dates and then close at the deadline date.

Be sure you read everything in each Module. Most of the time you will be quizzed or tested on content in each Module. It is important you read the material. With the exception of due dates for assignments, this self-paced course means you read at your own time and speed.

I will open up the following week's Module generally on the Sunday before the week starts.

My goal has been to arrange the modules and assignments in the clearest order as possible. I hope you find them easy to understand.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Thank you,

Professor Atkins
