Course Description

Comprehensive overview of all aspects of digital video production from concept to script to finished project, centering on basic theory and its application via exams, demonstrations, and hands-on projects using digital media.

 

Goals and Learning Objectives

- To understand and demonstrate the fundamentals of narrative storytelling by completing short film projects.
- To understand and demonstrate proper use of shots, camera movements, compositional elements and sequencing
- To learn the basics of video production and editing equipment and processes.

TEXT: NONE REQUIRED

EDITING SOFTWARE: You must purchase a subscription to Adobe - Premiere Pro. There are detailed instructions in the INTRODUCTION MODULE

GRADING SCALE

A= 90% - 100%      B= 80% – 89.9%      C= 70% – 79.9%     D= 60% – 69.9%      F= Below 59.9%


College & Instructor Policies

-I DO ACCEPT LATE ASSIGNMENTS,  however in fairness to your classmates who submitted their work on-time, I will deduct points when you submit late work.

-10% if submitted after the deadline but within the first week.

I will deduct an additional 10% for each additional week late after the first week.

Example:

3 weeks late = -30%

4 weeks late = -40%

5 weeks late = -50%

I will not accept work after it is more than 5 weeks late.


-NO MAKE-UP EXAMS WILL BE ALLOWED.

-YOU WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM THE COURSE if you miss the equivalent of one week of course meetings prior to the  Census Date (TBD),  (This is state law). After the Census Date, you may be dropped due to lack of participation, attendance and/or progress.”

-YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR DROPPING THE COURSE. Be aware that post-census non-attendance does not automatically drop you from a course.  Also be advised about the “three strikes” rules.  A student who either withdraws after census, or receives unsatisfactory grades, cannot attempt a course more than three times.  

-ACADEMIC HONESTY IS REQUIRED.  Cheating and/or Plagiarism in any form or manner will be subject to disciplinary action.
