Assignment Overview
Brainstorm Assignment based on Venn Diagram - Compare/Contrast
Using the previous page as a guide in Compare/Contrast Venn Diagram, start your own brainstorming session with your topic for Paper #2 Compare/Contrast with a character in our reader, Hidden Figures.
Refer to your Discussion space last Module when you picked two characters to write about.
Learning Objectives
- Learn to create a Master List of Compare/Contrast qualities of two subjects from Venn Diagram.
- Understand how to Brainstorm ideas in a compare/contrast framework.
Guidelines
Refer to your Discussion topics on characters from Hidden Figures. Many of you spoke of the discrimination these women went through, the challenges they faced at home, in school, and at work. You wrote about their strength of character in facing so many challenges. Mark the pages of your Reader where there are facts about your character's situations.
You can draw a large Venn Diagram at home and list the characteristics of one of these women on one side. Then put your own characteristics and situations you faced on the opposite side. Place in the middle, any characteristics that you have in common.
On this assignment, transfer the results from your Venn Diagram to three lists as shown below and Submit:
(a) Type in the situations and characteristics you listed for the character from our Reader.
(b) Below that, type in the situations and characteristics you listed for yourself.
(c) Below that, type on the third list anything you may have in common with the character.

REMINDER: The above three points will eventually turn into your Outline and the three (3) body paragraphs in your paper.
Below, Submit Assignment with your THREE AREAS as shown above: (a) character from book, (b) yourself, (c) similarities
Later you will organize the final ideas into a draft outline which we will discuss in Next page.
