- How to write a clear topic sentence for each paragraph and provide supporting details
- How to write reaction paragraphs with student's own words and avoiding plagiarism
Guidelines
Write two paragraphs discussing what you found interesting in the previous articles on Slavery in the United States, the Great Depression, World War II, or the Aerospace industry.
Assignment: Write TWO paragraphs 6-8 sentences long, each beginning with a clear, Topic Sentence.
Pick topics below. Pick TWO different topics and write a paragraph on each topic.
(1) Slavery - what made a big impression? Anything surprise you? What is your opinion of slavery? Did you study about slavery before?
(2) What do you think of the images of blacks during the Depression?
(3) How do you feel about women entering the World War II workforce? Anything surprise you?
(4) What is your opinion of women working in the Aerospace industry in fields of science, technology, engineering or mathematics?
Begin both paragraphs with clear topic sentences.
Each paragraph should be 6-8 sentences long.
Suggested topic sentence: I was surprised about the treatment of blacks in America history. (Make up your own topic sentence).
or
I didn't know so many women participated in World War II. (make up your own).
or
I was impressed with the black women who worked in the aerospace industry. (make up your own)
Be careful not to use text from the sources as your own words. You can refer to a statement from one of the articles, but then use your own words to describe your reaction. Please write your own original thoughts from what you learned.
These two paragraphs cannot be rewritten. You will submit for one grade.
Reminder: do not copy text from the history - this will lower your grade. Write your own thoughts in your own words.
