Since the United States was hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic, people stayed indoors and worked remotely as much as they could to stay safe from the virus. They were not sure about the changes taking place and had no idea how to navigate through them. While countries like the United Kingdom passed rules and imposed lockdowns with people not leaving their homes unless they were going out for essential services, the United States imposed harsh rules and regulations, along with lockdowns of specific businesses to attempt to reduce the spread of the virus.

While most companies switched to remote working, there were changes taking place where people were coordinating their work through virtual means and communicating with their management and clients through Zoom and other video calls. The same rules went for colleges and universities since they could not open their doors to students, since it could increase the number of people affected by the virus.

The Government imposed various rules connected to the pandemic, like wearing masks and maintaining social distance and about a year into the pandemic, colleges and universities have started their admissions again. The country was not sure how they were going to get through the pandemic, and it did not seem like it was going anywhere at least for the next couple of months.

With the number of students choosing to get themselves admitted into university significantly dropping, universities did not have any choice but to improve the admission process and work on various ad-on benefits to the course like providing job placements among a lot more. Some of the colleges were almost a century old and wanted to communicate with students, telling them they would increase the chances of getting a job if they had a degree from the institution. When it comes to the actual job, there are a few rules they should be aware of, mainly that the employer would have to follow the rules about the hiring process and students would still have to apply for the position. In the UK, in the past, most companies were randomly conducting background checks, they were now a lot stricter, with almost all of them asking for information about their history and whether they had done any jail time when people were applying for a job.

With the number of people losing their jobs in the country, employers wanted to make sure that they could trust the people coming in for a job. They wanted to make sure that they were thinking about the position for the long term. In some cases, the same rules were applied for students looking for volunteer work at those companies or looking to work part-time while still studying at their university.

Additionally, most institutions were now working on new scholarship programs to assist students in getting admission at the university. One of the most significant changes was attending online classes, which most institutions were working on to prevent the virus from spreading.

According to several reports, the number of students planning on attending classes in the United States was significantly plummeting, while the students joining universities in the UK were increasing rapidly. While the primary reasons were unknown, there were chances that they were connected to the immigration program that was getting stricter since the start of the pandemic. In the initial days of the pandemic, international students who were studying in the United States received notice that they could head home if their colleges and universities were providing them with online classes, which they were. The change also leads to the students learning that they did not have to be a part of the college if they were planning on attending classes online. It also meant students could attend their classes from any part of the world without moving to another country.

To create a simple system to improve the pace at which students get through the admission process, they were allowed to get through various admission processes using the same application form. The form was used for every college, which increased the chances of students getting admission. Students could use the same forms when applying for scholarships when getting through the application process, which was a significant benefit. They could use the same form to apply for various scholarship programs making the process that much easier.

All the information about the educational institution was made available online, which was a great help since students could not get in touch with people from the institution to get more information about it. Furthermore, in the United States, they even created a singular platform to apply and connect with all colleges and universities creating a simple system allowing more students to get through the process.

Private universities cost significantly higher than their community alternatives, but there are ways of getting scholarships or loans, allowing students to subsidise the cost when getting through the process. With the reduction in the number of students getting their higher education in the United States, the country received a large amount regularly when coordinating the application process.

According to a 2018-19 report, the average cost of tuition and fees for a private college was

$35,676, which is a lot higher than the average tuition and fees at public universities and colleges. The numbers vary for students who are in the country and those coming in from other countries. Additionally, according to a study by SelfScore's analysis done half a decade back, In 2015, the country's public universities brought in more than $9 billion in tuition and fees from foreign and international students. Out of those amounts, 28% of the annual tuition revenue comes in from foreign and international students, making up an average of just 12% of the student population.
